Hello lovely people!
So this is a bit of a different post to what i normally do but i had to share my experience with you all.
For christmas as one of my presents my parents got me two tickets to see Avenue Q as i have always loved things like the Muppets and as it had puppets in they were like, yeah she'll love it.
So the day came and i dragged my boyfriend along with me. I really didn't know what to expect, on one hand i thought will they be puppets on strings, or will you see the people holding them? I just didn't know. As the curtains came up you saw an amazing set which gave the look of a row of houses which was on Avenue Q and a man with a puppet strolls on and begins the show with the first song. Im a lover of musicals but this was no ordinary musical, as it contained songs like "The internet is for Porn" . It was definitely for the older age group as it contained swearing and also sexual content. But i have to say within the first five minutes i was in tears and fits of laughter, and after a while you stop looking at the person playing the puppet and you find yourself just fixating on the puppets face and listening to them like they were humans acting on stage. The people playing characters puppets were used for were dressed in dull colours, whilst the characters played by humans were dressed in bright normal clothes. The whole cast were extremely talented and myself and my boyfriend were blown away with the talent on that stage. Just the amount of skill that was used to move the puppets in an expressive and humanistic way was amazing.
I would tell anyone to go and see this if they like a good laugh. The show tackles real life situations that can happen and also how we feel and what we really think behind all the stereotypes. If i had to rate this show out of ten, i would have to give it 9/10 and the only reason why i would give it 9 and not 10 is because it wasn't long enough !
I hope you enjoyed my ramble about Avenue Q, and sorry to anyone who is really not interested in things like this :) Please let me know if you've seen this or your thoughts on if you want to see it or not, i would love to read them.
